Gmail + Talk = chat in your email: 
Google announces they'll be rolling out chat integration into Gmail accounts over the next few weeks. (Click to enlarge screenshot above.)
See who's online within Gmail, chat in a separate pop-up window within the web interface (no extra download) and save and access your chat session logs from within Gmail. I don't see this in my account yet - do you? Let us know in the comments or at tips at lifehacker.com. Thanks Jason and Saleh!
